Baseball and the Electoral College

In my last column I discussed the hair-on-fire reaction of the American Left to the electoral rejection of the pantsuit woman in favor of the guy with the world’s biggest combover. Since then, more hilarity has ensued.

kabukikWe have the political Kabuki of Jill Stein, hitherto a virtual political unknown non-entity, trying to force vote recounts in three (as of this writing) states. Of course, she has a better chance of winning the Powerball lottery than actually reversing the results in any of those states, but that doesn’t really matter. She’s now catapulted herself from complete obscurity and irrelevance to being nationally known, not to mention being in control of millions of dollars not previously available to her. Think that might come in handy in… oh, say… four years, when her presidential aspirations are as sure to resurface as a dolphin gulping for air?

You tell me.

Then, of course, we have the complete and utter outrage that Miss Pantsuit can win a couple million more popular votes than Mr. Combover but still lose the actual election, all due to the “arcane, unnecessary and outdated” institution of the Electoral College (EC). Naturally, this leads to bleats for the elimination of the EC altogether.

Wake up time, snowflakes. The EC isn’t going anywhere, since it would take an amendment to the Constitution to do that.

But here’s where the so-called “logic” of the Dem/socialists falls to pieces. Our national election is just like the baseball World Series, in that the election consists of 50 individualscoreboard contests for electoral delegates just as the World Series consists of seven individual games. The outcome is based on who wins the most of those individual contests (in the election) or games (in the Series), not the cumulative total of home runs… or votes. That team with the most states – or won games – wins the election or the Series.

There’s another huge gap in their “logic”. There’s a built-in assumption that if the election were a straight plebiscite the vote totals would be the same as they are under our present system. But here’s a dose of reality. I know of several personal acquaintances – and I’m sure they’re typical of many based on simple human nature – who are conservatives and/or Republicans, who simply never vote for President because they know that this state’s 55 EC delegates are going to the Dems no matter what. They consider their votes a waste of time, or an opportunity to make some other “statement”, a la the NeverTrumpers.

But if those people had known their votes would actually have a direct impact on the actual outcome of the election, I have no doubt they’d have showed up in droves to vote, not for Trump, but against Clinton.

As of now Clinton’s popular margin is around two million more votes than Trump, but I’d bet big money that if there weren’t an EC he’d have gained around a million votes out of California ALONE. Throw in New York, Massachusetts, Washington state, and Illinois and he’d have cleaned her clock in the popular vote, too.

I often say that in order to be a leftist you have to be able to ignore five things: facts, logic, history, human nature, and the Constitution. If you can ignore those five things you, too, can be a practicing leftist.

Well, take notice of how this latest umbrage over the EC covers all those bases with the possible exception of history. A perfect fit!

I agree with your assertion that had this been a “popular vote” contest, Trump would have gained many more votes, considering that I personally know at least 10 people that voted for everything but President, and I also know quite a few people that voted for Gary Johnson, knowing that it wouldn’t matter here in California.

    Another great column, Brian!

It is not only amusing (but also enlightening) to watch the Liberals and Snowflakes going “apesh*t” over the election of Trump. To me it is the sense of Liberal “entitlement” that is pushing the riots, the Main Stream Media’s constant attacks on Trump, and the crying over the election results. Hillary WAS SUPPOSED to win. Any other result is just not acceptable.

And I don’t believe that Hillary’s so-called popular vote count is accurate. We are already finding out that over 800,000 illegal aliens voted in the election. We are finding out that some state’s voting machines counted a vote for Hillary as up to 5 votes for Hillary. In other words, voting fraud for Hillary was rampant. Her actual legal vote probably need to be reduced by well over 1.5 million.

What is also amusing is watching the Left “explode” over Trump’s cabinet picks. My personal favorite is the pick of General “Mad Dog” Mattis for Secretary of Defense. I saw an interview on a Liberal campus where a Snowflake was almost crying that Mad Dog would kill all terrorists without hearing their grievances.

I am also enjoying watching the Main Stream Media going nuts that Trump isn’t even president yet and yet he is already doing good for the country (i.e, the Carrier deal, the $50 billion Japanese deal, speaking with the president of Tiawan, etc.).

I voted for Trump; but I was not in the Trump camp. Perhaps I am going to re-think my position on him.

      Thanks, Grey.

Yep! The entertainment factor right now is extremely high! Gotta love it.

What’s truly hilarious is that a lot of the criticism seems to be based around the insane premise that Trump was somehow going to select advisors and Cabinet members that somehow were supposed to be similar to, or resemble, the kind of Marxist morons we’ve had for the past eight years, and that the Hildebeest was sure to select for herself.

I mean, how stupid is that? That’s exactly what people voted AGAINST! Why are they surprised?

Again, remember the five things you have to ignore to be a leftist: Logic, facts, history, human nature, and the Constitution.

    Great minds think alike.
I have been using the same analogy, the team that scores the most runs does not win the World Series, the team that wins the most games does.
I do think there were millions of illegitimate votes, dead people, multiple votes, illegal aliens, etc.
I believe California registers everyone who gets a drivers license to vote, citizen or not and they are now giving illegal aliens drivers licenses.

Going forward, we really do need to clean up registration and tighten up citizenship verification for registration to vote.

    • BrianR says:

      Thanks, VPat.

It’s even worse out here in Commiefornia than that. You can register BY MAIL!

How in hell can any kind of control be put in place by a process that allows THAT?

      • Hopeful says:

Don’t forget, Brian, here in California, one can also register to vote ON LINE. All one needs to register on line is their CA. Driver’s license, last four numbers of their social security number, and date of birth. Once registered on-line, the information will be sent to the DMV to get the person’s digital signature.

Too bad Jill Stein didn’t request a vote recount in California…now that would be interesting!!!

      • BrianR says:

Oh, yeah… on line. Even better!

Actually, I don’t think a recount would have mattered much here in Commiefornia. It wasn’t that Trump votes were miscounted; they just didn’t materialize because so many people who would have otherwise voted for him in a straight plebiscite just didn’t under the Electoral system.

  4. Nee says:

I just schooled the leftists on my FB page. The utter hysteria and double standards are laughable. The election is over, but still they don’t stop. Still they don’t realize that nothing in their world has actually changed!! My kids were the first to point out that if there were no EC what states would call the election and the notion that this is the purpose of the EC now has the whiners panties wadded for bear. It works for them until it doesn’t. Nicely done, Brian.

  5. Kathy says:

Someone said (maybe Trump) that if the popular vote method was used, they’d have campaigned differently, but the snowflakes didn’t think about that. Instead all they saw was the final total which sent them into a rigor. It’s hard to believe they’re still whining about it a month later, but they’re persistent lil boogers, I’ll give ’em that.

    • BrianR says:

Hahahaha! Yes they are. Absolute Energizer Bunnies.

Yes, I didn’t even factor in how campaigning would have been completely different. Trump spent exactly ZERO time out here in Commiefornia, and rightfully so. He had ZERO chance of winning any EC delegates here. So why bother?

The snowflakes never THINK at all, frankly. It’s a completely emotion-driven ideology. A No Thinking Zone.

      • captbogus2 says:

Trump is a multi-billionaire for reason. I only hope he runs the nation as well as he has his business empire.

  6. Hardnox says:

Good post as always. I love lefty heads exploding. I also love it that Stein managed to steal a few more bucks from the stupid lemmings who now have to retreat back to their safespaces since a Michigan judge pulled the plug on the recount citing voter fraud committed on Hillary’s behalf. The whole thing is a scam. I hope one or all of these states sue Stein for financial damages because all of it it is nothing more than a fund raising scheme and legal terrorism.

Now is the time to use this issue to hammer home the obvious need to purge the voter rolls and require proper voter ID since the left is all about “fair and honest” when they lose. Bwhahahahahaha.

    • BrianR says:

      Thanks, Nox.

      I second your “Bwhahahahahaha.”

      • captbogus2 says:

Wow you two would be dangerous together! Yeah tell the left is Trump won by fraud then it is time to inaugurate a voter identification system to solve the problem of illegal ballots…..

      • BrianR says:

It’s long past that time. I remember having a Voter ID card I had to present at the polls when I showed up to vote. I think that system should be reinstated.

  7. slowcowboy says:

The recount baffles me. Maybe I have too high expectations when it comes to people doing honest things, but the recounts, and their selectivity (is, where they are doing the recounts) seems utterly hypocritical and short sighted.

I mean, not only was it the left who condemned Trump for not wanting to accept results, and claiming he was bringing down the system by failing to do so, but there were other close states that went Hillary and not a whisper from the left about possible fraud there.

You call it hilarity (I still think you should watch Idiocracy, by the way) to watch this unfold. I am not sure I find this funny, but it certainly is revealing. The cat is out of the bag as to how liberals work and think. Their high road is destroyed.

    • BrianR says:

      “Their high road is destroyed.”

Of course it is, which is exactly the source of the “hilarity”. I love it when pompous arrogance meets reality, leading to exploding heads. Very high entertainment value.

      • captbogus2 says:

I just can’t help keeping thinking the entire election was close akin to the class bully who kept on pestering everyone and finally they all hammered him and he gets up and asks, “What did I do???”

      • BrianR says:

        Nice metaphor.

  8. The Crawfish says:

Simple and to the point. Nicely done, brother.

I note that it is your Freakafornia delegation that is putting forth bills to get rid of the Electoral Congress. Are they really si ignorant that they don’t know it requires a Constitutional Amendment, or are they just doing it to gain more favor from the ignorant populace?

  9. CW says:

Great post, Brian. I can’t think of a word to add!

  10. garnet92 says:

I just posted a piece thanking President-elect Trump for exposing the left for the loons they really are. He’s done the country a service by forcing the leftist idiots to resort to their natural idiotic demeanor – for all the world to see. They can’t hide who they are anymore – they’re exhibiting their spoiled brat temper tantrums and the whole world is watching. I just hope that people will remember their actions when it comes time to vote again in 2020.
