The Witless, Gutless GOP

If you keep up with the political scene, you know that in the wake of the political massacre the Dem/socialists suffered in this year’s mid-term elections Obama has vowed to take unilateral action on Obama dictatorseveral issues, most notably illegal immigration, by granting illegal aliens de facto amnesty through Executive Order.

In spite of the fact that such an action is clearly illegal and exceeds a President’s constitutional authority – as noted by no less an authority than Professor Jonathan Turley, noted legal scholar and self-proclaimed “social liberal” (Newsmax article) – Obama seems determined to again ignore and bypass Congress on this (and several other) issues.

As I’ve discussed previously,  impeachment – though warranted – is impractical at this point. Obama’s in his last two years of office; it would be politically counter-productive in the extreme; and the net result, even if successful, would be at best a Pyrrhic victory, leaving Crazy Uncle Joe Biden in the Oval Office. It makes no sense to jump from the frying pan into the fire.

However, as a result of the mid-terms the GOP has taken control of the Senate, securing two of the three levers (House, Senate, President) of legislative control. Now that Harry Reid has been removed from the equation as the Despot Of The Senate, they can easily pass a budget that prevents Obama from spending any funds whatsoever to advance his unilateral actions. They completely control the power of the purse strings.

So, in light of this undeniable mandate given to them by the American people, what’s been their response, along with their bobble-head sycophants in the Establishment GOP?

scared childIt reminds me of a little kid scared of the Bogeyman and other monsters hiding under his bed.

Both Mitch McConnell, the new Senate Majority Leader, and John Boehner, the incumbent House Speaker, have already stated that they won’t allow a government shutdown in a budget war with Obama.

I hope that the next time I’m in the market for a new car my salesman has the negotiating skills of Boehner car dealershipand McConnell. I’ll end up owning the dealership.

They’re scared that any government “shutdown” will be blamed on them, and they’ll suffer politically in the next election. Well, first of all, we just HAD an election about Obama’s policies – as he himself stated – and it turned out GREAT for the GOP.

Secondly, who even worries about any such “shutdown”? Did anyone even notice the last time it happened? Thirdly, it takes two to tango, and any such impasse in negotiations is just as much – if not more so – Obama’s fault as it is the GOP’s… which after all, and again, controls two of the three levers of legislative power. Can’t the GOP find ANYONE who can clearly state that simple fact (other than me, and I’m not even a Republican)?

On top of everything else, we just had an election on these issues; it’s TWO YEARS until the next one; and no one’s even going to remember a “shutdown” that happens now when that time rolls around.

If these gutless GOPers aren’t going to stand up for what they were elected to do, what’s the point in even ever voting for them? How can they ever claim any justification for their very existence, if all they’re ever going to do is play patty-cake with Obama, and let him control the agenda and negotiations on his own terms?

After all, as Obama himself stated, “elections have consequences”.

Someone should alert the GOP to that, and send them a memo.

Thanks for that great link, Jeff. That column clearly illustrates EXACTLY the point, using Karl Rove as an example (the best guy on the Dem/socialist team).

BTW, your screen name’s “Jeff”, and the author of that piece is “Jeffrey Lord”. Did you write that? If so, it’s really excellent.

AMEN, BROTHER. How the hell many times have we discussed, cussed, and recussed this very issue of the PSP acting like they LOST when indeed they have WON ? My thoughts as to what to do between now and when the clown car unloads in January is simple: DO. NOTHING. There is absolutely NO new legislation that needs to be introduced right now, and certainly the spineless simp Boehner as blind as he is, can see there really is no need to do anything except BLOCK any and all funding requests by the White Mosque. Obama tries to spend the money without the proper authority, NAIL HIS ASS. Great, and very timely post. You nailed it, pard.

As I have said before and since then evidence presents favorable examples to my contention that the left has a cadre of private investigators who do nothing but dig up skeletons in the closet of any conservative elected to higher office. The reason Chief Justice John Roberts offered his rather flimsy reason for upholding Obamacare. The reason so many (Rubio, for instance?) go to DC with conservative principles and end up voting for the liberal causes.
Too many. Way, way too many.
Believe me, BB, EVERYONE has a skeleton in their closet.

    • BrianR says:

That’s true, Buck. But in these cases, I think it has more to do with the drones being worried about being “liked” by their Beltway buddies, and the press (as if that’ll EVER happen…).

  3. gunnyginalaska says:

I have called, emailed, and tweeted these gutless bastards, called them such, and told them to grow a set and IMPEACH the SOB! If Dumbo is allowed to break the law, why can’t we?

  4. CW says:

    Great post, Brian.

It’s ironic that every Republican – even the RINOs – was able to see the obvious flaw in Obama’s strategy of announcing in advance our time table for withdrawal from Afghanistan, or his announcement that we’d never put boots on the ground in this or that conflict, yet here we are announcing in advance that we’ll never shut down the government. We are in non-violent (so far), desperate civil war in this country and our leadership (ha!) is broadcasting its strategy to the enemy, telling them in advance that we’ll refrain from using our most powerful weapon. Foolish doesn’t even begin to describe it, and there’s only one logical explanation for it, IMO, which is that this is Boehner and McConnell’s way of giving the middle finger to Ted Cruz and the Tea Party for having the gall to challenge them. That’s the only explanation that makes any sense, and sadly for us it demonstrates how petty and self-serving some of our elected leaders are.

    Lord help us.

    • BrianR says:

CW… that’s a VERY interesting thought I hadn’t even considered. I DEFINITELY have to think that one over.

      Very, very interesting…

      • captbogus2 says:

I agree with CW’s assessment that Boehner and McConnell are giving the finger to the Tea Party. I really believe that the day will come when the Tea Party will be giving the finger to the entire GOPe.
It seems to me the more the rinos cozy up to amnesty the more folks lean to sympathy with the Tea Party.

      • BrianR says:

Yeah. Boehner, McConnell, Rove the Asshat, people like them. They absolutely HATE us. Because we actually believe in — GASP! — principles.

        Shame on us.

I don’t believe we will ever be able to get our wonderful country back to where it used to be. The Republicrats and Democrats are basically the same party. All they are interested in is power and their personal bank accounts. Its a crying shame that the ones that claim to be Christians haven’t figured out they can’t take it with them and to all of us older folks their legacy is going to be the same as the piles in the bottom of the outhouse. It would seem they could just arrest him , jail him in Gitmo with the rest of the terrorist and pull crazy Biden over to the side and tell him if his mouth falls open he will be in the same cell.

  6. Née says:

Well, can’t say I’m surprised…but I still want something more. At this point, if impeachment happened to bring forward ALL transgressions and we were left with numb nuts Biden, so what? We have control…heh. ;(
And this immigration sheisse tomorrow is UFB.
Dear Mr. President: “The illegal aliens/parents are responsible for their children – not you – not me. If the children are illegal, neither you nor I have any responsibility to subsidize their education – or their healthcare – or their lifestyle. We have no obligation to give up our jobs so they can have one, nor should my children give up their jobs so an illegal can work. Illegals have no right to federal tax rebates (that is my tax money also), nor do they deserve any form of federal ‘aid’.”
And this makes a great point…after lying at least five times that you are not an “imperialist” and you would not advance amnesty without Congress, I present to you the latest reason you should be impeached. YOU are helping others and not your own country! YOU ARE STEALING FROM ALL OF US, Sir. ‪#‎SFB‬, ‪#‎SOS‬

    • BrianR says:

Well, the problem with impeachment, Nee, is that conviction in the Senate won’t happen. It takes 2/3 of the Senate to convict — 67 votes — and the votes just aren’t there, particularly since I can’t think of one single Dem/socialist with one ounce of integrity. So why waste time on it?

      • captbogus2 says:

I believe you are right and if there were 67 GOP senators you would still have the old “maverick’ and his ‘Smithers’ type sidekick to contend with.

      • BrianR says:

Yup. Excatamente. The RINO problem is alive and well. Hence this essay.

  7. Née says:

So I need to lose my Pollyanna ‘tude? ;). I was holding out hope that some were sitting idly by but ready to pounce if it moved forward. And, really– they aren’t getting anything done the right way since the emperor stepped back out of the phone booth. All they have is time!!!

    • BrianR says:

Not at all, Nee. There’s nothing wrong with idealism. But we also have to face cold, hard reality: without at least 9 or 10 Dem Senators voting to convict, it’s a waste of time. Can you name for me 10 Dem Senators with one ounce of integrity enough to vote to convict Obozo? In which case it’s a waste of time. Like trying to empty the ocean with a kid’s sand pail: lots of good exercise that doesn’t actually accomplish anything.

Better to spend time forcing the clown to veto everything in sight, grinding is reputation (what little there is of it) and “legacy” into dust. Blocking all of his nominations. Like that.

    • Billt says:

If the stories are true about his social security number being bogus and his birth certificate bogus then there is nothing to impeach. Just go into the White House in the dead of night, arrest him and moochile and whisk them to Gitmo. Dont’ tell the news media anything. Have your high dollar lawyers build the case against him where even the NAACP won’t balk and try him for fraud. Get a couple of thugs and send them to offer dingbat Biden a deal he can understand and can’t refuse, then just go along to the next Pres Election.

      • BrianR says:

Well, that’s the problem with the theory that the data is falsified: people have spent a lot of time and energy checking him out, and there’s nothing there to support the idea.

It would be nice (and easy), but you can’t build a foundation out of nothing.

That’s more the stuff of thriller novels than real life, I’m afraid.

  8. captbogus2 says:

I don’t know about the falsified data theory. If what I read is correct his birth certificate gives the name of the hospital something the hospital was not called for another 6 or 7 years and lists his father a citizen of a country that was not yet out from under British Colonial rule at the time. I have read that in two or three places and never seen a rebuttal.

    • BrianR says:

Buck, let me put it this way. With ALL the people in this country who hate the guy and want to see him gone; with ALL their resources, including official resources; with all the background scrutiny done on the guy to qualify him for a security clearance; with all the time they’ve had to find anything AT ALL, how come there’s not one shred of evidence that he’s not a qualified citizen?

Really… this is like a flat earth issue, or that the moon landings were faked. You can ALWAYS find people who believe in that stuff, but it doesn’t make it true or real.

  9. Billt says:

Ok, I understand but you can see where I’m coming from also. I set out here on the edge of the earth in God’s country and I learned a long time ago to take anything from the major networks with a gain of salt. But there is so much junk on the net and trying to sort thru it all is frustrating. I saw a blurb a couple of days ago where Rush L claimed to be able to document over a thousand times where O committed treason. If so why don’t they just try him? Life was so much simpler when I was in my 20’s and 30’s. News medias tried to do investigative reporting but now it just for effect.

    • BrianR says:

Yep, Bill, I hear you loud and clear. It’s frustrating as all hell. I’m constantly praying for a comet to hit the Capitol building while Obozo’s addressing a joint session of Congress.

So far He hasn’t answered me…

BTW, you say you’re out on the edge of nowhere. Where is that?

      • Billt says:

I’m at the end of the road, the end of the power lines, the end of the phone lines, end of the water line, end of the garbage line, end of the mail route. If you come down our road you either came to visit or you are lost. Most people are lost. If you go past our home you step off the edge of the earth and will be drifting around somewhere. In Mizzippi.

      • BrianR says:

Well, if you see any comments by “Gray Ghost” here, he’s a fellow Mississipian.

      • Billt says:

I’m a transplant but been here so long I don’t do well with tech support. I always ask for someone that speaks mississippian. Otherwise I hang up and try again. Look on a map for Pope and I’m 9 miles East on Enid Lake.

  10. Billt says:

The mail carrier comes down the road daily unless her mule slips.

      • Anonymous says:

wrong area but check this out BrianR! Go sheriff Joe

      • BrianR says:

Good old Sheriff Joe, yet again.

I REALLY like that guy. Too bad the GOP congresscritters don’t have his gonads.

      • Billt says:

Actually I believe the republicrats are getting what they have desired for years. A few years back I wrote my Senator Roger Wicker about closing the border. I wish I had controlled my anger as I got a reply from him stateing that businesses needed the undocumented. I burned the letter. If I’d kept it I would post it all over the internet as it had his signature on it. Our other senile old fart never one time over the years replied to any concern I had. This past November we had a Republican Primary election It started in June I think. Anyhow there was a majority of conservatives in Mississippi that voted for Chris McDaniel. Well there were a couple of other people that ran and received some votes also. Anyhow Chris didn’t get the required 51% of the vote so we had a runoff election. Haley (the convicts best friend forever) Barbour brought some walking around money from his PAC and from good ole Mike Bloomberg and they purchased enough Democrap votes to cross over and vote in the republicrat primary. They re-elected Thud Cochran who is so damn senile he went to a Senate dinner and he went to the democrap dinner instead of the republicrat dinner. He’s only been in D.C. 47 years.

      • BrianR says:

Yeah, that was quite a scandal. My net buddy, Gray Ghost, lives down there and he was highly aggravated.

      • Billt says:

I don’t know what part of Mississippi Grey Ghost lives in but I’m 17 miles from WallyWorld in Batesville. Sounds like he is a cool guy.

      • BrianR says:

Yeah, he is. I don’t know his physical location, either.

  11. garnet92 says:

Well Brian, here we are again, discussing how to best stifle Obamarama. As much as I’d love him suffer the ignominy of being impeached, I too have doubts about the reality of that happening. So, maybe the next best thing is to relegate him to a nonentity. With his enormous ego, being forced to sit on the sidelines and be essentially impotent would be difficult for him to handle – a fitting sentence to a despotic asshole.

However (and it’s a BIG however) that requires some ballage on the part of our congressional “leadership” and we all know that Boehner and McConnell are nothing if they’re not ball-less. If only they had the intestinal fortitude to act as they should – I know, that’s wishful thinking, but I can HOPE for CHANGE (I learned that from Omammy).

    • BrianR says:

      Amen, Garnet.

    • captbogus2 says:

Relegating him to a status of nonentity would not be difficult but it probably would cause him to do dangerous things to himself as well as the country. He would do whatever necessary to be noticed. Perhaps you have seen the spoiled child who is not being paid attention to in a room full of adults. He will break Mama’s Ming vase, if that’s what it takes to get attention.

  12. Hardnox says:

Good post bro. I’m left shaking my head at the PSP. They have been given a huge victory at both the Federal and State levels. It appears that they will eff it up.

I still hold the hope that both Boehner & McConnell gave Bat-Ears a head fake for the purpose of removing the media hype and for giving bat_Ears a false sense of confidence and then lowering the boom on him once the new Congress is seated and sworn in.

    I might be dreaming.

Our side won, their side lost. It is past time that reality was understood. Further, the GOP didn’t win anything. Americans voted against the left with the hope that Bat-Ears would be checked, they didn’t vote for the R’s. If the R’s don’t understand that fact real soon they will lose next time.

Now that Zero uttered his decree, Congress has little choice but to hamstring Zero at every turn.

  13. Grey Neely says:

At this point in time, I am about ready to start preaching secession. The GOP has a mandate from the 2014 election and they are about to throw it away. However, after Thad Cochran bought the US Senate election using Democrat votes I knew that the GOP elites (who are no different then the Democrat elites) are controlling what will be done. All I can hope for as a result of the 2014 election is the “slowing” down of the steady drift to the Left.

BTW, Brian, I live about 34 miles from Batesville in Clarksdale. I go through Batesville all the time and go right past Wally World (on I-55) on the way to visit my daughter. I am also doing some work with MDOT and meet in their Batesville offices about every two months.

I also appreciate your kind comments about me to “Billt”. My 16 year old grandson might argue the point though. He will not be back to thinking I am “cool” for another 5 or 6 years.

  14. Grey Neely says:

The question now is what will happen in Ferguson now that the grand jury will not take the Michael brown case any further. I now wonder what Obama will do.

    • BrianR says:

It seems rioting has already started. What a shock, I’m sure.

There’s no federal issue in play, so if Obozo tries to do anything, he’s overstepping yet again. Of course, with this Fuhrer, who knows what’s possible?

    • Bill says:

The media giving the race baiters air time, an AG going to Furgeson, a so called President getting involved in a legal matter again (race baiting), what can we expect? Watching Fox now that it’s daylight. The natives did good. They have destroyed a whole bunch of stuff and with REVEREND AL yaking, I fully believe they have set race relations back at least 75 years. How damn dumb can a group be?

  15. captbogus2 says:

    Suffering burn-out, Dude?

    • BrianR says:

It’s the holiday season, and Congress is out of session. There’ll probably be more to write about once the new guys are sworn in.

  16. captbogus2 says:

Yeah. Or nothing to write home about.

  17. jevica says:

The PSP is really a PSP. They still look like they want to be democrat lite. Any more candidates and someone with ten votes will win the primary. Be well, how is the family?

    • BrianR says:

      Welcome back, Jev.

Everyone’s fine. The munchkin’s 5 now, and a lot of fun. I get to watch her 3 days a week after school. Thanks for asking.

  18. jevica says:

Nice to be back. Went shooting in Vegas last year with the wife, had a good time.

  19. jevica says:

Some fools in the NYC council want illegal aliens to be allowed to vote. They just get worse and worse.

    • BrianR says:

Damn, Jev, we get the same kind of nonsense here in Commiefornia.

The ONLY thing I can note on that topic is that they can’t allow it in elections for national office. But apparently states can set their own standards for non-federal elections.
