Sneaky Leftists

 (I know… oxymoron, right?)

Over the last few years out here in Commiefornia, capitol of the enviro-whacks, there’s been a rising tide of panic about the “dangers” posed to the environment by the bags used in grocery stores, pharmacies, and convenience stores to package your purchases.

A few years ago, paper bags were the bugaboo, because trees were being “sacrificed” for such a “wasteful” purpose. There was much loud wailing and gnashing of teeth from the enviroNazis about how people should use plastic bags instead.

Then a couple of years ago those same fanatics changed their minds and decided that everyone should have to bring their own bags instead. It seems that plastic bags have also made it onto the “no-fly” list because of their durability (generally considered a good thing in other products); it seems some of them have been spotted floating around out in the middle of the ocean somewhere.

Can’t have that!

The problem is, they can’t sell their whacky ideas to the proletariat. That pesky free will at work again. So the answer was obvious: get their leftist buddies in government to do their work for them!

Of course!

So, in San Francisco (surprise!) and here in LA County, laws were passed to make the use of plastic bags illegal. They were banned, like other dangerous substances such as heroin and cocaine. The only “approved” choice is now back to those paper bags that were previously scorned … at a mandated “fee” of 10 cents per bag, of course. Fortunately for me, LA County has no regulatory power over the incorporated cities in this county, so here in Santa Clarita we still get to exercise our free choice in the matter.

But those stalwarts in the City of Los Angeles aren’t satisfied. Oh, no! Now they’re on the verge of passing a law banning paper bags, too (Link). Their goal, as they plainly admit, is to force people to bring their own reusable bags to the store, kinda like the Russian babushkas had to do in the glory days of the Soviet Union. I always have to wonder what was so appealing about the USSR that our homegrown leftists so often try to emulate it.

Of course, this stupid policy blatantly ignores the problems attached to the reusable bags: they’re unsanitary, most of them are made in China, and that little issue of people being able to make their own choices.

But then, they’re leftists. The only “free choice” they believe in is the choice to murder unborn babies. Anything else must be government-approved.

      LOL, Craw!

Well… thanks for the sharing, of course.

Pretty good characterization of this state. I feel like a secret agent operating behind enemy lines, sending reports home to HQ.

  2. clyde says:

The ONLY reason they find it so romantic is NOT A ONE of the bastards have actually LIVED under communist rule. I’ll guarandamntee you, they WOULD NOT like it one bit.

    • BrianR says:

      Of course you’re right, Clyde.

But in what passes for a “mind” in a leftist, somehow or another THIS time they’ll get it right, in spite of all the historical evidence to the contrary.

      • clyde says:

I get it. They, being the NICE people, the SMART people, haven’t had a chance to be the leaders of said movement yet. THAT’S why it has failed! Would I be close??? hahahahahaha

      • BrianR says:

        Bingo!

        That’s how lefties “think”.

  3. Hardnox says:

Oxymoron, heavy stress on the moron would be correct! What you describe, and as all things leftist, their ideas DON’T work. Never, ever do they pan out as they NEVER consider the consequences (you know the ones that adults always consider).

For instance, the Delta Smelt. You have a few dozen endangered minnows that someone decided need fresh water so the commies decide to eliminate the fresh water for crops thus killing the entire agricultural industry in your area. Then the commies go “duh”, and wonder why there’s no one left to finance their bullshit ideas all the while importing veggies from South America using up (the horror) fossil fuels to get it there.

Then there’s the brain-dead argument of getting rid of combustion engines whereas all cars should be “electric” but the morons forget about the power plants fueled by fossils that provide the electric for the receptacle for which to plug-in and thus recharge the worthless 25 mile round trip car.

We can all site dozens, if not hundreds, more crackpot ideas that have resulted in utter failure.

    You can’t fix stupid.

I have had hundreds of arguments with libs in my lifetime and each time I get the “doe in the headlights” look when facts are presented which they cannot comprehend. Then they simple walk away while saying “whatever, it should be that way…”.

I have had an epiphany… I had been a staunch advocate against abortion. No so much anymore. I STRONGLY am in favor of ONLY libs having all the abortions that they want and need. Combine that with legalized drugs of any flavor, gay marriage, bestiality, STDs, AIDS, and normal expiration, libs will be gone within a generation.

It sucks to have to wait that long but it is the only legal remedy available at the moment.

CLYDE! You stole my thunder! I once transported a Russian scientist (second job as van/limo driver) who gave a ripping damnation of communism! The van was full (10pax) and they clapped when he was done!

    Simply awesome.

Ronaldus’ foreign policy towards them is what ours should be to the Leftists… “We win, they lose.”

    • BrianR says:

Yeah, it’s so ironic. Russia moves away from communism, and half our country wants to set it up here.

  5. captbogus@yahoo.com says:

Those morons have no reality. Fossil fuels are bad. So. Okay. We go to nuke power. No, no. Bad. Okay. So now solar and wind.
    Well.
Government financed solar projects have gone tits up.
They arem building wind generators all over Western Oklahoma.
    Lots of jobs here now.
    So next.
The greenies will start protesting the wind generators seeing as how the blades slow the prairie wind down and may cause global warming.
    Look for it.
    It’s almost a guarantee.
    Sooner or later.

  6. CW says:

Those leftists are busy little bees, aren’t they?

It’s kind of ironic that you mentioned heroin and cocaine. The leftists are as frantic about legalizing these things as it is about outlawing plastic and paper bags. I’d be willing to bet that EVERY bag found floating in the ocean or dirtying California’s lovely beaches was left there by a pot-smoking hippie who voted for Obama. It fits the formula: create the problem, then demand a gov’t solution.

    • BrianR says:

Well, I know what you mean. But here’s the “argument” the bag-Nazis use. The plastic bags are very light, and the WIND BLOWS THEM ALL OVER THE PLACE, creating all this catastrophic “pollution”.

I kid you not. That’s their claim.

Now… how many tons of plastic bags has anyone seen blowing over their homes or cities or beaches or anywhere else that it’s that big a problem?

Or even any REAL problem at all…

    • Hardnox says:

      CW,
I head to the mountains on horseback every chance I get. I run into tree-humpers regularly who trash their campsites and leave behind their waste. Their hypocrisy abounds.

  7. Jack says:

The ‘environmental’ movement has to be the modern equivalent of the Trojan Horse.

One of my favorite terms is “watermelon” when used to describe enviro-nuts–green on the outside, Red inside.

I was very surprised to see how much support the Republican poster-boy for enviro-nuttery, Tim Pawlenty, got early on in the Primaries. He seemed to have a pretty sizable minority of ‘moderate’ GOPers behind him early on. That this ‘conservative’ version of Al Gore was able to hornswaggle so many Right-leaning folks is a sad sign of the times for sure.

    • BrianR says:

Jack, great point about T-Paw. I didn’t know he was an enviro-wack. That seems to fly in the face of everything else he says he represents.

      • Jack says:

The thing w/these politicians is, after a while, they lose touch w/normal folks and end up relying on advisors and those in their social circles (other politicians and lobbyists) for guidance on policy, etc.

I wouldn’t at all be shocked to learn TP thought he was in line w/conservatives on global warming, etc.

These people, w/few exceptions, really are disconnected from reality, unfortunately. Its a big reason why they end up doing so many things that are at odds w/what people want them to do.

      • BrianR says:

Good thoughts, Jack. I think there’s a lot to what you say.

  8. thedrpete says:

I think that recycling might help, BrianR. You put a couple of plastic bags inside a paper bag to transport groceries and pharmaceuticals, etc. Then, use the plastic bags as diaper shells with paper bag as the inners. Stage 3 is leaving the result on the front lawns of all of the leftist enviro-whackos, caqlling it “mulch”.

    • BrianR says:

      LOL, DrP!

You know what’s really interesting about that? A LOT of people DO recycle their bags through use. They use the plastic bags to pick up the poop when they walk their dogs; they use the paper bags for all kinds of things.

That’s the problem with these fanatics; they’re… well… fanatical. Find one bag floating a thousand miles off-shore, and ALL bags must be banned.

And, of course, the idea of using reusable bags has been around for a loooong time, and people have already voted on it… by refusing to use them.

  10. Gray Ghost (Mississippi) says:

I am so glad I live in the most conservative state in the union (i.e., Mississippi). If some Leftist tried to dictate what type of “carrying” device that people are allowed to use at the grocery store, a silver-haired grandmother type would probably pull a handgun from her purse and “pistol-whip” said Leftist.

Therefore in Mississippi we have plastic bags (which I hate), paper bags (which I like), and re-cycled cardboard grocery boxes furnished by the grocery store (which I love). I have never used a cloth reusable bag, so on it I have no opinion.

One other thing. I have noticed that more and more people are “packing” in Mississippi. I believe this to be a good thing; and I am noticing that people are getting very polite.

  11. Hey, I used to write a bit in the soap and entertainment pages furthermore havent been on here for ages now! So what are the most popular threads?

This is a message to the admin. I discovered your “Sneaky Leftists The View from the Island” page via Google but it was difficult to find as you were not on the first page of search results. I see you could have more visitors because there are not many comments on your website yet. I have found a website which offers to dramatically increase your rankings and traffic to your site: http://www.linklegends.com/free-trial. I managed to get close to 1000 visitors/day using their services, you could also get lot more targeted visitors from search engines than you have now. Their free trial and brought significantly more traffic to my website. Hope this helps 🙂 Take care.
